Just finished off the Lannister half of the starter box along with the Lannister Heroes 1 box. These are great models, really enjoyed painting them with a mix of Citadel contrast and Vallejo highlights. I think Cersei is my favourite - and she's a formidable NCU in the game.

And next comes something completely different ... ASOIAF
Towards the end of January I finished off my Mantic stuff including Clansmen:
Scarecrows:
Spectres:
A Reaper Bones model who will work as the Ice Queen:
And a unit of Arctic fox chaff:
Then for my birthday, I plunged into A Song of Ice and Fire by Cmon games. I have been admiring the miniatures and after watching a bunch of battle reports and reading reviews, the game sounds very good. So, I picked up the Starter and here is my first unit of Lannister guardsmen:

More fun with contrast paints ... and welcome 2021
I have been fairly busy hobbying but unmotivated to post - not sure why that is. I find it useful to keep track of projects here and to occasionally share and hear from co-hobbyists. Somehow COVID makes everything a chore!
Anyhow - here is the assortment of stuff I have done over the past few weeks including the holidays. Almost everything done with contrast paints as I test them out:
More Mantic Clansmen:
Mantic Scarecrows:
Mantic Spectres:
Reaper townies
Assorted Reaper adventure figures:
Reaper big orcs and a bat covered tombstone:
Mantic Snow Trolls:
GW Dwarves
A Reaper worm
Mantic Butchers:
Mantic assorted Nightstalker figs:
I now have about a dozen or so contrast shades and have experimented with mixing them to get some of the intermediate shades for the Nightstalkers. I think they work pretty well on figs that have a lot of rough textures, not so great on smooth surfaces.

KoW and Necrons
The last few weeks saw some progress on a new Kings of War project - building a Northern Alliance army starting with the Clansmen models from the 3rd edition starter box, these guys were made for GW contrast paints - completed using 6 shades only:
As well as more new Necrons.
Unfortunately, neither unit is likely to see the table any time soon as we go into a serious COVID lockdown. Sigh....

And now for some Bolt Action stuff
More 'mericans. A squad of 28mm rangers including a flamethrower and bangalores, plus a Sherman, softskins and an M-20 Greyhound. Great stuff from Warlord Games!

MeG and Flames of War armies
I worked through a batch of old school, mixed bag 15mm Gauls/Britons over the past few weeks to flesh out a Pacto scale Mortem et Gloriam Ancient Briton army. Here they are in their glory:
I also completed a company of Fallschirmjager with Stug support for my late war German Flames of War collection. These are models by Plastic Soldier Company.
I conclude with a photo of what the remote learning environment often looks like in our home. I hope he is absorbing all of Grade 9 French. Or I suppose with the calculator handy, perhaps it's catmath.
