Rohan and WW2 stuff

In my typically eclectic (ADD?) fashion I have been working on different genres and scales for the past little while - here we have warriors of Rohan and a Mordor troll from the Pelennor Fields box set:

As well as some US tanks and Stug upper hulls for Tanks! and Flames of War

I originally did the Stugs with the earlier upper hull and painted them in panzer grey for Stalingrad era gaming, but I didn't glue the upper hull on so that I could swap it out with a later model upper hull done in dunkelgelb. Presto - convertable Stugs! Well the undercarriage will be grey but it's not that noticeable under the shurtzen.

Genestealer Cult Kill Team

I finally got around to painting my first Kill Team - the Genestealer Cultists from the box game. These are fantastic models with great character and lots of weapon options. I opted for a mix of shotguns and autoguns with the heavies loaded out with a grenade launcher, flamer, stubber and laser drill. I like these guys a lot - unfortunately they are not a full team (only 60 odd points) and are not terribly formidable for shooting or melee - so they will need to be reinforced by either a few pure strain Genestealers or maybe some Acolyte hybrids. Maybe for Christmas?

Army of the Dead

Working my way through the Pelennor Fields box - next we have the Army of the Dead:

Morannon Orcs and Afrika Korps reinforcements

I finished the Morannon Orcs that came in the Pelennor Fields box set, plus added some additional anti-aircraft and recon to my Flames of War Afrika Korps army.

Nightvault!

I succumbed to GW's competitive deck-building skirmish game Nightvault (aka Shadespire) which fun and challenging to play. That, and the models are superb! I picked up the starter and two add-on warbands which have worked their way across my paint table over the past couple of weeks.

Orks:

The Briar Queen and her chainrasps (ghosty undead types)

Magore's Fiends - Chaos Khorne warriors:

And Stormcast Eternals:

Fantasy stuff

I learned of a Kings of War tournament later this month in Edmonton so this inspired me to paint a box of Silverhelms I had kicking around for my Elf army. I'm looking forward to blooding these guys - love those GW High Elfs.

I also made a start on my new lot of LOTR stuff - Morannon Orcs and some Army of the Dead figs. I'm not sure I'm happy with the Dead - they seem too dark.

Afrika Korps support, modern Soviets and Harquebusiers

I've been remiss at updating my blog with completed stuff. Here we have some 15mm Flakwagens to help shield my tanks from Hurricane tank-busters:

A platoon of airmobile Soviet infantry with support weapons in 15mm for Team Yankee by PSC - these are good sculpts. In the background are a couple of scenic billboards produced by Battlefront. I have magnetized a variety of in period 1980s posters for them:

And a few Afrika Korp reinforcements, a couple more tanks from Zvezda and some prime movers for my 88s.

And finally, a unit of 28mm TYW Harquebusiers by Warlord who I will use a dragoons for my ECW armies.

Middle Earth, ECW and modern air support

I recently could not resist picking up the new Middle Earth Pelennor Fields box set from GW - I just loved those LOTR models and the Strategy Game was really very good. This new version binds all of the rules changes from the recent editions and the Hobbit, as well as releasing some models I have always coveted - specifically the Nazgul and a Mordor Troll. I haven't started on that stuff yet, but it inspired me to go through my remnants box and find the plastic Fellowship set which I painted as a warm-up. Here they are, needing no introductions:

I also have a considerable pile of ECW/TYW kits obtained in trade and barter from a pal, and I finally got to doing the box of Cuirassiers from Warlord for my Parliamentarians:

And finally, I picked up this 1:100 Harrier GR7 model from Revell at the local hobby store for my Team Yankee NATO forces. It was $12 - a box of two planes from Battlefront is upwards of $50 in my neck of the woods. It is a pre-painted snap-fit model (designed for kids) so it's underwhelming, I could repaint it but then I would need to get new decals. For the amount of time it will be on the table, I can live with it!
