Soviet Rifle Platoon

Back to the Team Yankee (or to be Battlegroup Northag) project - here is a platoon of Soviet infantry by Battlefront. These were meh sculpts and required a number of repairs at weak joints in the castings - both ankles and weapons. Their upcoming plastics look a lot better.

Dryads

I had these cool GW Dryad models hiding away for a while. They were a lot of fun to paint - lots of interesting little details. My plan is to use them as a horde of Forest Shamblers for Kings of War to accompany my Treeherder (Treebeard the Ent) in my Elvish army.

Warriors of Minas Tirith

Was rummaging through some bits boxes and came across a bag of 48 GW - LOTR Warriors of Minas Tirith figures. Figured I might as well paint them up! Here are the spear armed chaps - the others with swords and bows are on the bench. In the background are the 40k Armoured Shipping Containers - new scenery for 40k - bit incongruous with LOTR I know.

Also some 10mm Pendraken French mechanized infantry Dragons Port.

10mm WW2 French and 6mm WW2 western desert

Worked my way through some WW2 French tanks by Pendraken - motorcycles, a B1, H35s, Chenillettes and Somuas.

And some additional 6mm stuff from Heroics and Ros for a western desert game I will be hosting in 2 weeks.

10mm early war Germans

I dug into the unpainted lead pile and did a bunch of 10mm Pendraken early war German vehicles. I bought Sam Mustafa's new Rommel rules which look very interesting and motivated me to get back into this scale, which I have always liked. The new vehicles are shown here mixed in with some Minifigs stuff that was already painted.

Cold War Brits and an Enginseer

Before going in for Canadians I picked up a platoon of Team Yankee British infantry and here they are. I quite like them - good scupts and the British 1980s kit is all pretty cool. The platoon has GPMG and Carl Gustav stands with a venerable 50mm mortar attached to the command team.

I also completed a GW Enginseer to keep my Leman Russ tanks rolling - pretty cool model.

Dollar store find

I found a die cast Loach/Cayuse OH-6 helicopter toy closely scaled for 15mm in my local dollar store so grabbed a couple for $2 each (nothing in the dollar store is a dollar anymore...). It has some goofy markings and is missing some detail.

Here is before (left) and after (right) being airbrushed with primer, then olive drab, and the window gaps filled and painted blue.

The minigun comes from the AH-1 cobra sprue from Team Yankee where it is an option for doing an earlier Vietnam era version. I think it will stand in just fine for Vietnam or early Cold War games.
