Belated updates - ASOAIF and Bolt Action

 I have been hobbying and playing for the past two months (although FTF gaming is over for the time being, thanks Omicron!), but seem to have lost my will to post on my blog. So, here are some belated updates.

Epic ACW and back to some Bolt Action

The blog has been quiet for a couple of reasons - house renovations mean I don't have a hobby room ready yet, but also it's been busy and I have fallen out of a blogging routine. However, I should keep it up if for no other reason - it helps me keep track of projects!

I finished enough Epic ACW to run a Kernstown battle scenario in Black Powder in a couple of weeks with some new gaming buddies. Here they are:

I have also fell in with a weekly Bolt Action group, and have so far managed about an even record of winning and losing (actually more draws than anything else yet). But this has inspired me to do a few new models to reinforce my Soviets:

Last of the free folk and some Epic ACW

 Here we have some War Mammoths - which are great models but complete rubbish in ASOIAF, and some Thenn Warriors to round out my Free Folk for now.I think they were designed for contrast paint!

And three frames of the Epic ACW starter set from Warlord games. 300 done, another 2100 to go! But hey - troops on strips paint up pretty quick. I used contrast paints on the Rebs and conventional style on the Yanks.

Some Reaper Bones adventurers and a few ACW

The kids have expressed some interest in trying D&D so I painted up a few models from my Reaper Bones lot for colour. I have the 5th edition starter kit and that should provide a more than ample introduction to it. One of the nice features is that the Bones lot contains quite a few female models, and that helps broaden the appeal to daughters.
 

Plus a couple of stands of 10mm ACW cavalry to fill out the order of battle for a game of BattleCry I plan to host at the club tomorrow night.

Union reinforcements

A few new regiments of Yankees in 10mm (Pendraken and Old Glory) for a potential Altar of Freedom game at EWG.

ACW bits and bobs

Some remaining accessories for running an Alter of Freedom game, including 2 HQs populated with stretcher bearers, ambulance wagons and bystanders. I also completed 20 fatigue or casualty markers. All are 10mm by Pendraken.

And here are the Union forces for Pea Ridge - 7 brigades of infantry, 2 of cavalry, 4 artillery stands and two commanders. 10mm figures are mostly Pendraken with some Old Glory strips making up the back ranks of the infantry stands.

Union troops are by the far the easiest force to paint I have yet encountered.
