Harad, Cold War and a Phoenix

Some odds and ends completed over the past couple of weeks, starting with a Su-25 Frogfoot in 144 scale by Academy models - this is air support for my Team Yankee Soviets.

An M109 battery and another platoon of Leop 1s for my Cold War Canadians. These Leops are by Plastic Soldier Company. Like em!

And a Phoenix (well, it's a great eagle by Deep Cuts painted red with a flamey thing on the base) to add some colour to my Macedonian KoW army.

And finally, some lovely GW LOTR Harad riders - great models! The Mumak is now assembled and on the painting table for next time!

Afrika Korps support, modern Soviets and Harquebusiers

I've been remiss at updating my blog with completed stuff. Here we have some 15mm Flakwagens to help shield my tanks from Hurricane tank-busters:

A platoon of airmobile Soviet infantry with support weapons in 15mm for Team Yankee by PSC - these are good sculpts. In the background are a couple of scenic billboards produced by Battlefront. I have magnetized a variety of in period 1980s posters for them:

And a few Afrika Korp reinforcements, a couple more tanks from Zvezda and some prime movers for my 88s.

And finally, a unit of 28mm TYW Harquebusiers by Warlord who I will use a dragoons for my ECW armies. 

Team Yankee Canadian Mechanized Infantry

From Battlefront here are 15mm M113 TOW, Blowpipe and mechanized infantry teams for the 4CMBG circa 1985. This gives me two infantry platoons to go with my Leopard C1s.

Just finished the last element of my US FOW force for now - the all important mobile artillery battery of 3 M7 Priests:

I also used some M125 crewmen to make stands of 81mm mortars for Nam or Cold War games. 

Team Yankee unit cards for the 4CMBG

I played around with Powerpoint today and created my own Canadian unit cards for Team Yankee, representing elements of the 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (Tanks from the Royal Canadian Dragoons, infantry from the Princess Pats). I statted them out using similar vehicles and assumed the crews and infantry would have stats like the British - so considered highly trained. Let me know what you think.

Christmas loot and a bunch of other stuff

I aquired a bunch of pre-painted 15mm terrain for FOW and TY from Santa, including escarpments (bracketing three newly painted Stugs)

A terraced house and corner shop- a shout out to my chum Scott who I ran into at the Mission Fun and Games Boxing Day sale, this was where I snapped up the large houses. Scott - thanks for letting me slip into line with you! Hope you did as well as I did at the sale - these were 50% off.

Well, not quite finally I guess, I also acquired a box of Leopard 1s which I painted in gelbolive to match my ArmiesArmies C1s. The Battlefront Leps are the ones with aerials:

Soviet Rifle Platoon

Back to the Team Yankee (or to be Battlegroup Northag) project - here is a platoon of Soviet infantry by Battlefront. These were meh sculpts and required a number of repairs at weak joints in the castings - both ankles and weapons. Their upcoming plastics look a lot better.

Soviet motor rifle in "convertable" BMPs

I just finished a box of Team Yankee BMPs and a platoon of Soviet infantry by Battlefront. I based the infantry on small washers instead of the unit bases. The BMP kit comes with a choice of either the BMP-1 or BMP-2 upper hull. I did both, then magnetized them so they can be swapped out depending in which I want to use. Not sure if the kit was designed for that, but it's a nice bonus feature.
