Persian heavy foot and bow

Been working away at these guys for the last little while. They are Persian kardakes or Lydian hoplites and some armoured Persian archers. The figures are Hat 1/72, which are okay, but not quite up to Zvezda. The shields are topped with LBM transfers which are superb, although a little small for the shield size. They are based on 60mm frontages which can convert to just about any ruleset. I'm thinking Impetus but have been reading FoG too.

  1. Nice 1/72s. 60mm frontages? Interesting. It probably is the optimum base size. Reading FoG now? Wow, I'm gone a month and look at the evolution. Great job, on the minis. I can't wait to get back to things.

  3. Of course 60mm is handy for DBA and HOTT too, so it is a nice frontage to work with in terms of cross-usage. 40mm frontage is just too tight for most 1/72s.

I've had FoG for years, no recent evolution here. I like the books and there are some good ideas in it. Just too intricate for a 2h EWG game.

  4. Yeah, the books are beautiful. I've only glanced through them though. If you figure it out and want an opponent, give me a call. You can teach it to me then. ;)

  5. FoG requires a lot of figures, even for the starter armies. Maybe 1/72 is a good scale for it just because of the price involved. I'd be interested in it too. I've got enough unpainted miniatures for several different ancient armies.

  6. I should have enough to try Greeks-Persian FoG some time later this summer maybe. Something to work towards.
